Born in 1971, Simon Lewis contributed to Pulp Faction's books Skin and Technopagan in 1995; he also won the Big Issue fiction prize that year. A fluent speaker of Chinese, he has travelled widely in China and India since then. One of the unlikeliest fiction writers to break in the 90s, Lewis's impeccably observed stories have already earned him a loyal following.

"Read of the week: The alienation of modern youth is barely tempered by the exotic locations. Lewis accurately portrays the ephemeral nature of relationships with fellow travellers. An entertaining read from a promising young writer who puts an often amusing spin on subject matter it's all too easy to be cynical about." The Big Issue
"Drags you halfway around the world and expects you to keep up —but you are happy to do it." The Observer
"South London gunplay and backpacker slack, jet trash characters and gold-dust prose—Simon Lewis mixes it all up with style." Toby Litt, author Beatniks
"On the first page of Go, you realise you are in for a good read. Lewis blends the pace and disposable wit of Elmore Leonard with Alan Bennettish realism in a satisfyingly rounded plot. A highly accomplished and enjoyable novel." The Times
"The spirit of Philip Larkin shines on in Lewis's tetchy, wickedly playful prose." Interzone
